Here Is How To Avoid The 7 Huge Mistakes That 9 Out Of 10 Parents Make
Concerning Portraits Of Their Newborn!
Let's go through the 7 huge mistakes that 90% of all parents make when it comes to their
baby's portraits.
Obviously, you should contact us right away about whether or not we have any openings
available for our Baby Plans. You see, weddings, senior portraits, and family portraits
keep us so busy that we have to limit how many Baby Plan clients we can have at any
given time. Typically, we only have room in our schedule for less than 17 new baby
clients each month, and we almost always have a waiting list.
But that's not the point of this website. The point of this website to give you these 7 major
mistakes most parent's make in reference to their baby's portraits. If you decide not to
work with us, that's fine, but we may cry!
Mistake #1 Ruins More Baby Portraits Than Anything
Mistake #1 is not choosing a photographer who works by appointment only. This is so
vitally crucial, especially when dealing with babies. It you have not already noticed, your
newborn has a schedule. She likes to take naps at certain times, and likes to be fed at
certain times, or all the time. Now what happens when your baby is fussy or hungry?
You guessed it, cranky baby! Now, here is something you may not have thought about -
your time is valuable! Babies require a lot of attention, and your day is busy. When your
not feeding your baby, changing diapers, washing cloths, going to doctor's visits, and
keeping your home from flying apart at the seams, do you really want to waste your
valuable time waiting to have your baby's portraits created by a mall studio? With our
appointment only system, you are guaranteed a private session, convenient for you and
your baby. No waiting, no wasting your time, no chaos, or the stress of listening to
unhappy Mom's and Babies!
Mistake #2 is a Huge Destroyer of Baby Portraits!
Mistake #2 is so huge, but yet, so few people actually realize it, photographers and moms
alike. Make sure your photographer is flexible enough to capture, I mean really capture
your baby's personality. You see, all of the department store and mall studios have a
check list, a set routine their photographers HAVE to follow.
Let me explain. Although the department store studios deliver a fine product for the price
they charge, they are what is called a "Loss Leader". A Loss Leader is a low priced
product designed to bring you into the store with the hopes that you will purchase enough
other items to exceed the loss. So, not only do the department stores not expect to turn
a profit from their studios, they are actually expecting to take a loss! To minimize this
loss, they hire "photographers" for minimum wage, give them a few hours of training, and
a checklist of must take photographs. They don't have the experience, training, or
creative license necessary to really capture your baby's personality!
"Okay Rolland, but what about the mall studios? They are not part of a department
store."
Good question! The name of the game there is volume. If you notice, they (mall studios)
may have five or six camera areas, where the department stores have one or two. They
earn a profit by cranking out as many sessions as they can, while paying their
"photographers" as little as possible. So, the same thing happens, they end up with a
checklist that they are not allowed to deviate from.
We have a saying here "Begin with something familiar, end with something new". We
only have one camera room, and we allow a full hour for you and your baby. You can
bring in anything you like that shows off who your baby really is, even family pets! Rolland
personally creates every portrait, no minimum wage "photographers" here! We have
been in business since 1965, are family owned, and you will always deal with the owners!

hours of training as a portrait photographer and Rolland has thousands of hours of

Mistake #3 Is The "Silent Killer" Of Many Baby Portraits!
Make sure your photographer guarantee's his work! Babies are unpredictable. But, you
already know this. Let's say your baby is not feeling well, and just does not want to
smile. No problem, we reschedule your session, no extra charge. Baby teething? No
problem. Let's say your baby gets hungry during the session (happens all the time) no
problem, we take a break so you can feed him. We even have a private, clean nursing
room, with it's own private, clean bathroom where you can feed your baby in complete
privacy and peace.
Obviously, I’m totally confident that the portraits I create for you and your baby will be well
beyond anything you imagine. I believe completely that these photographs will become
your most prized possessions - that, if your house were on fire, you would grab them on
the way out of your burning home.

1st - At NO CHARGE, I will photograph your baby again, and make sure that anything that
wasn't perfect is fixed, without you paying another cent.

Mistake #5 Is Vital Important To The Appearance Of Your Baby's Finished
Portraits.
Make sure your photographer does artwork to your baby's portrait! This is so important!
Baby's often don't have perfect complexions (okay, honestly, none of us do!). We are
not talking about color and exposure corrections, we are talking about a trained
professional investing time to make darn sure your baby's portraits look their absolute
best! The artwork is what removes blemishes, enhances eyes, creates dramatic black
and whites or warm sepia toned portraits. It's what makes your finished portraits come to
life with a three-dimensional look. It's what gives your baby's portraits that extra "punch".
And the department and mall studios do not do it!

Well, yes, but it's the portraits of your baby's first year of life, and you will never, ever,

Mistake #6 Is Critically Important To
Your Appearance In Your Portrait!
Most parents don't realize that sometimes, "today is just not the day" for my baby's
portrait to be done. Your baby may be cranky. Or maybe your baby didn't sleep well
last night. Or perhaps you've had too many stresses home. Or maybe you just had a
fight with your spouse, etc.
Well, we understand this. We honestly understand that the day we set up for your
photography may end up not being the best day, when it arrives, for whatever reason.
And we have absolutely no problem, whatsoever, with you calling us and rescheduling the
session, if "today isn't the day." We WANT YOU TO DO THAT!
You see, one of the things that is really unique about us, is how easy and fun we are to
work with. So, for example, let's say you end up deciding to have us create your baby's
portraits, and we set up a time for your session for Tuesday, the 15th at 3:30pm. Well,
let's say you wake up that Tuesday, and just "doesn't feel right." Plus, your baby isn't
cooperating that morning, and you're really tired, too.
Well, you just call us. You say, "Hi, today just isn't the day. I'm really sorry." And we will
immediately understand and know exactly what you mean. And we will reschedule the
session for you - no problem.
Now, we are terribly busy, and booked up, BUT, WE DON'T TREAT YOU LIKE A
FACTORY. We understand. We won't make you feel guilty. Why? Because we've been
doing this for over 30 years, and we completely understand exactly how you feel! It's no
problem at all.
We understand this is a once-in-a-life-time thing.
Mistake #7 Can Ruin Everything!
What's this mistake? It's choosing the WRONG PHOTOGRAPHER FOR
YOUR BABIES PORTRAITS. Everything depends on that one decision.
And hopefully, now that you know these 7 major mistakes that most parents make - you
won't make those mistakes! You'll be able to chose the right photographer for your baby,
based on all this new found information you now have!
